CineASA Guwahati International Film Festival: Cine Art Society, Asom (CineASA) is Assam’s premier film society, which has been formed with a vision to spread cine literacy to the grass root level. Since its formation as a wing to Center For Art, Peace and Progress of North-east and South-east Asian Relations (CAPNER),CineASA has been engaged in realizing its dream to reach the unreachable, with world acclaimed films of all genres being screened in remote areas as well as in educational institutions. Now it boasts of about a dozen of its chapters in almost all important towns of the state and in the process of forming more in other small towns. Many of the Universities and Medical colleges and other colleges now regularly screen the acclaimed films on a regular basis. The likes of Eisenstein, Kurosawa, Fellini, Godard are now familiar name in these areas and even Almodover, Wong Kar Wai, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu are no longer strangers.
